While we have all been surprised at the warm weather we are currently seeing in the region, all we have to do is look back one year to find that Mother Nature sometimes pays little attention to the calendar.

It was New Years Eve of 2010 in the early afternoon when severe weather including tornados broke out just south of the Tri-State's in the St. Louis area ...?even as close as Calhoun County, Ill.

The?National Weather Service?surveyed and confirmed twelve tornado tracks.?

The strongest tornado occurred in Sunset Hills in St. Louis County and was rated a high end EF3 on the?Enhanced Fujita Scale.?

The second strongest tornado occurred in Robertsville, Missouri in Franklin County and was rated?EF2.

The tornado in Calhoun County was an EF0.

The scars from this tornado outbreak can still be seen when traveling along parts of I-70 and 270 with topped trees still looking far too "trimmed" to have been done by anyone other than nature herself.

The good news with our recent warm weather has certainly been the lack of severe storms.
