Improving Your Home With Feng Shui ? Cute Girl Hair Color Spa

Feng Shui may be the practice of bringing good fortune by achieving balance between various elements. In the usa, more people are beginning to consult Feng Shui experts in decorating their properties. For you to understand what they say, you have to learn the basic Feng Shui areas that need your attention so you can decorate it properly.

Step one is to draw a layout of your house. When you are doing it, you are noting along the north points in the house.

Then it?s time to work on the door. Ideally, the leading and back door must never lineup with each other. This is because according to the principles of Feng Shui, energy enters the house will just go out without bringing any good things about the homeowner. If this is the situation in your home, put a plant or other obstruction with an angled throw rug to encourage a path in the sideways direction.

To bring more energy in the home, bring in some light. It doesn?t mean turning the lights on but opening up the curtains and so the sun can come in. You should also add green plants since in Feng Shui, along with itself brings joy and happiness. Other decorative items you can use include mirrors, wind chimes and brighter colors.

You may also bring good fortune to the home by setting up an indoor water fountain. This is because water refreshes Chi. At the same time, you can throw in some goldfish as this also encourages wealth. Make absolutely certain to keep the pond clean and never allow it stagnate.

Red is a very strong color in Feng Shui because it is hot, passionate, rich and celebratory. You must use this color for a living room set because too much of it may bring restlessness, instant anger and over stimulation. In order to use it, use it only for details and accessories.

Whenever you note down the north point of the home, it will be easy for you to work in the areas such as the southwest area of the house. This area is vital because it will allow you to have satisfying relationships. This can be done by eliminating clutter and replacing it with symbolic items ideally in pairs. The right examples are candles and other figurines. Never make the mistake of putting wooden or green items here.

For your dining room, the best ones to obtain are circles as this symbolizes heavenly blessings. The chairs needs to be even in number and comfortable to sit in. The decor ought to be simple so people will not get distracted and become more focused on having a good meal.

Be cautious about exposed beams. If there are, these should be covered up because it creates an oppressive downward energetic flow which could cause health problems and other misfortunes in your lifetime. The other option is to have two Feng Shui flutes installed at 45 degree angles on the beam, one at each end.

When it comes to bedroom, make sure that the bed isn?t directly facing the door. You should not also place a mirror on the opposite side of the bed because this could attract a third party to your relationship.

Peace and prosperity is only able to be achieved by decorating your home with Feng Shui. You can start now with a few of the basics then get help if you think you need it.

Tsonga: Umpire gave Nadal preferential treatment

(AP) ? Jo-Wilfried Tsonga accused the chair umpire of giving Rafael Nadal preferential treatment during their quarterfinal at the Sony Ericsson Open. Nadal said that's not the case.

Nadal, bidding for his first Key Biscayne title, won 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in a match that ended shortly after midnight Friday. Tsonga complained during the match and afterward that when borderline calls went against him, umpire Damian Steiner was reluctant to overrule.

"It's not fair," Tsonga said. "If it's really close, he would never say 'out' against Rafa. If Rafa doesn't like him anymore, he would not be in the chair many times in a final and semifinal."

Tsonga said he lost his concentration because he became so focused on watching the lines in case he needed to challenge a ruling. Many players contend that since the advent of the Hawk-Eye replay review system, which allows players to challenge, umpires are less inclined to overrule linesmen.

"I understand sometimes the frustration on this situation," Nadal said. "It's a general thing with the referees today that with the Hawk-Eye, I believe that they feel that they have less pressure than before. Probably knowing that you have the challenge, they don't take the risk to have to overrule.

"He's right in one thing; he's wrong in another thing. "

Joe's Auto RV & Truck

When it comes to their vehicles, some Vidal people don?t have a maintenance mindset. They know they need to take care of their cars, but it just seems really hard to get them to remember to do it. Vidal drivers generally accept that many things in life require regular maintenance, but just may have not applied it to their family vans.

For example: the lawn. You water it and mow it every week. And weed the flower beds and rake the leaves. Joe's Auto RV & Truck And The Maintenance MindsetThere are other things that Vidal people are good about maintaining. Going to the dentist twice a year. Clothes to the dry cleaner. Flu shots. Taking the kids to your Vidal doctor for a checkup before school starts.

So Vidal people really are maintenance minded. They just have to learn to apply that mindset to cars. I mean, if you never brush your teeth or go to the dentist, you?ll become painfully aware of your neglect when you get a big cavity. Once the damage is done, we learn our lesson and start to take better care of things.

Unfortunately, Vidal family van owners too often learn the hard automotive lesson when they bring their vehicle to Joe?s Auto RV & Truck on a tow truck. So many times a little routine maintenance would have prevented a breakdown.

So how can Vidal drivers get into the habit of taking care of their family van? It?s so easy to forget. If you skip cutting the grass, you see it every time you pull in the driveway.

Here?s something that will help: The key to good vehicle maintenance starts with the oil change. Think about it ? when you go in for a full-service oil change, your Joe?s Auto RV & Truck tech will check all your fluids. If one of them is low, he can look for the reason why. If your serpentine belt is cracked, he?ll see it and let you know. Corroded battery cable ? they?ve got you covered. And at Joe?s Auto RV & Truck, we check to see if your family van manufacturer has recommended any services at your current mileage.

The oil change becomes kind of a focal point, a way to check in to see what needs to be done.
The fact is that vehicle inspection surveys consistently reveal that over 80% of vehicles have one or more unperformed repair or maintenance service. Vehicles are generally very reliable and can take a lot of abuse and neglect. But, you?ve got to remember that family vans are complicated machines. There are parts and fluids that are critical to their function. Without them, the family van won?t run at all.

So when you come in to Joe?s Auto RV & Truck for an oil change, you get a visual inspection from your personable service advisor and a reminder for recommended services so you can avoid a total failure. And remember that your Joe?s Auto RV & Truck service advisor can help you work out a maintenance and repair plan, prioritizing and scheduling the work to make sure you and your family are safe, and avoid expensive breakdowns.

Cancer Vaccines See Growing Success ? CBS Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) ? Many people once considered a cancer diagnosis a death sentence. Several years ago, cancer vaccines were promising, and now some are even approved by the FDA. So are we closer to a cure? CBS 2?s Mary Kay Kleist reports.

Nine years ago, Emily Dunham was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma.

?I had a lump over here (on her neck). ? And it had gotten bigger and I noticed it,? she said. ?So I went in to see my doctor, and things kind of snowballed.?

The five-year-survival rate for Emily?s cancer is only about 15%.

Emily?s physician, Dr. Margo Shoup, was testing a cancer vaccine at Loyola University Medical Center when Emily was diagnosed.

?Emily is amazing, and I think it?s incredible that she?s even alive today, because she had very advanced disease when she was first diagnosed. The chances that she was going to live a year were very, very small at that time,? she said.

Emily was one of four patients to undergo treatment with the vaccine.

?We didn?t know if this drug was going to work. We didn?t know if it was going to have side effects. We didn?t even know the right dose to give. And, because she was willing to take the chances of going on this trial, she?s alive today,? Shoup said.

?Knowing that I?m okay now is awesome,? Emily said. She beat the odds. She is now cancer free.

Emily was on the forefront of research that targets the immune system to beat cancer. Researchers have only recently begun to make major breakthroughs in that area.

Dr. Howard Kaufman from Rush University Medical Center said, ?I think it?s definitely possible to cure cancer, because we?re already doing it in some patients.?

For prostate cancer, the first FDA approved vaccine, Provenge, was studied at Rush.

Retired physician William Hejna just finished the Provenge program in February.

?The next step is to be happy, and wait until they can repeat the bone scans, which I think will happen in about three or four months ? to see if there?s been any change in what they saw the first time on the scans,? Hejna said.

Rush is also studying vaccines for lung cancer and melanoma.

?I think today, about 70 percent of cancers can actually be cured or managed well. What?s exciting about immunotherapy, is that when it works, it works really well,? Kaufman said.

Back in a lab at Loyola University Medical Center, a new study using genetically altered T-cells to target tumor cells in melanoma patients is just beginning.

?This is important. We want to learn a lot about how these cells behave in the patients. We hope that we can help people,? Dr. Michael Nishimura, Ph.D., said.

Hejna said, ?They?ve made wonderful breakthroughs, and, you know, I?m hoping I?m the recipient of one of them.?

There are two FDA approved cancer vaccines, the first being Provenge for prostate cancer. The other is Gardasil, a vaccine for HPV, which can cause cervical cancer.

Use a Storage Pod as Your Garage Shed

This short article is create to give greater possibilities to people who require more room within their house because storage space is limited. Even if you already have a garage, getting extra room is always useful and this can be accomplished with storage pods.

Storage pods are made in resilient and durable materials. They are mainly built from metals that are also weather resistant. Some will include a ventilation system, for preventing mold and mildew that's commonly found in uncontrolled storage spaces.

If you've ever used a storage facility, you will notice they will have air conditioning to keep moisture and rodents out. If you do your own landscaping and gardening you can store the lawn mower, trimmers , gardening tools and chemicals there and out of harm's way. The storage units can be easily converted to a garage system to serve the same purposes.

Organizational shelves can also be purchased separately to make every tool and every product remain in order, and also for easily identifying each product. You can also accessorize with tool organizers, bike racks, ceiling mounts and other items that can be bought at the manufacturer's outlet, or you can check he cost of buying these accessories at the local home improvement store too. Doing it yourself is great if you are up to the challenge of tackling a new project.

Storage pods possess a number of locking techniques, plus several are made like storage doorways to provide similar appearances. Something all of us question about storage pods is actually utilizing it for your automobile. If you don't invest in a large version, your vehicle may not fit.

In the event that this is really something you will need, you can get in touch with a contractor who can customize the storage space. They can tell you whether or not they are able to customize a pod for fitting your automobile.

One benefit of using a storage pod over a traditional garage shed is that they are premade beforehand. You get the green light to pick up and go, or have a drop off service. There is no wait time unless you choose a custom made one, and you won't have a problem trying to figure out the assembly.

Something you should look at when utilizing storage pods in your house, is actually researching if it's allowed inside your neighborhood, and also your region. A few house owners may challenge these types of buildings, because they feel as though it doesn't stick to the plan. Additionally, a few metropolitan areas will charge a fine for parking these in your house or even in the car parking area outdoors. Therefore make sure to check with your city council.

Black Queen tells microbes to be lazy

Confronted by a deadly threat, most bacteria let someone else handle it.

According to the Black Queen hypothesis, evolution pushes microorganisms to lose essential functions when there is another species around to perform them. The idea could explain why microbes are so dependent on each other.

Jeffrey Morris of Michigan State University in East Lansing got the idea from an ocean-dwelling bacterium called Prochlorococcus. "It is the most common photosynthetic organism on Earth," he says, but for decades no one could grow it.

That's because Prochlorococcus relies on other bacteria to break down toxic hydrogen peroxide. This led Morris to the Black Queen hypothesis, named after the card game Hearts, in which players try to discard the costly queen of spades.

For microorganisms every ability is costly ? carrying genes and making proteins uses up energy ? so they benefit from losing genes if possible.

As long as one microbe breaks down hydrogen peroxide all bacteria in the area benefit, so it is in the microbes' interests to discard the associated genes quickly.

Morris acknowledges that this kind of outsourcing is a dangerous game to play, though. In theory, all of the microbes may lose the genes at the same time, leaving none to deal with hydrogen peroxide.

Unpublished experiments support the Black Queen hypothesis. Morgan created Escherichia coli vulnerable to hydrogen peroxide, then gave them a resistance gene. Many, but not all, of the bacteria promptly lost the gene.

William Costerton of the Center for Genomic Sciences in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, thinks the idea makes sense. "Some species may be 'donkey engines' for whole consortia [that] are unable to grow in the absence of the donkey."

Morris says the "donkey" microorganisms that do the community's dirty work would ultimately become keystone species. That is, they would be extremely important to the ecosystem ? even essential for its survival ? despite being relatively rare.

The Black Queen hypothesis explains how evolution can produce helpers and beneficiaries without the two having to interact or cooperate, says Martin Hahn of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Mondsee.

But microorganisms do lose abilities for other reasons. Hahn studies bacteria called Polynucleobacter, which cannot move or detect signals from their neighbours PLoS One, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0032772. These abilities are not Black Queens because they cannot be outsourced.

A new NHS community pharmacy scheme to help patients understand and get the best out of a new medicine is to be tested and evaluated by a team led by The University of Nottingham in collaboration with University College London and Warwick Business School.

The New Medicine Service started in October 2011 and will run until March 2013 with funding of up to 55 million in both 2011/12 and 2012/13 available for its delivery. The service provides support from community pharmacists for people with long-term conditions who are newly prescribed a medicine to help them solve any problems with their medication or its management.

The study is being led by Professor Rachel Elliott and Dr Matthew Boyd. Dr Boyd said: "The New Medicine Service is a great opportunity to formalise the excellent work community pharmacists already do every day supporting patients with their medicines. This study intends to provide an evidence base for how pharmacists can support patients with their new medicines. It is hoped it will inform the development of more pharmacy services in the future."

Professor Nick Barber from the UCL School of Pharmacy and a project team member, whose work formed the basis for this new service said: "We hope this service will make patients' lives better; our task is to find out if this happens in reality."

It is believed that up to a quarter of people with long-term conditions such as asthma and diabetes don't take their medicines properly. Under the New Medicine Service, community pharmacists offer follow-up consultations and phone calls to patients to help them manage their medicines regime. These take place one to two weeks after receiving the new medicine and again a further two to three weeks later.

The aim is to help more patients take their newly prescribed medicines correctly to improve the drugs' effectiveness and improve outcomes for patients. It is also hoped this will reduce medicines wastage and hospital admissions due to adverse reactions to medicines.

Following an open competitive tender, a team led by investigators from The University of Nottingham's School of Pharmacy has been awarded a 442,000 grant from the Department of Health to carry out a randomised control study of the new scheme in the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and London areas and will compare the experiences of patients who receive the New Medicine Service with those who do not. In addition researchers will interview patients, pharmacists and GPs to get grass roots experiences of how the service improves outcomes for patients and opinions on how the service could be improved. The study will run for 18 months from January 2012 reporting to the Department of Health in summer 2013.

The results of the research will inform decisions at government-level about whether the New Medicine Service should continue to be funded and future arrangements for service provision.

Simple Reunion Party Ideas that Make Memories Last

There is always a feeling of nostalgia that pairs with every reunion.? Coming together with family and friends from near and far to recant old memories and ultimately to keep new memories forming.? Anxious anticipation as we wonder if someone is going to bring out old embarrassing photos and quiet peacefulness as we imagine visiting with older friends or grandparents for what may be the last time.? Regardless of how you think about it, reunions of all sizes are big fun for all invited.

Reunions aren't just for family anymore.? High school reunions or even collegiate reunions have long been events celebrated every five or ten years.? Often times friends who have been separated by life's demands plan a yearly camping trip or even just a one day picnic to reunite and stay connected.? This is what reunions are all about; keeping the connections that we hold dear strong over the years.?

The memories that come with reunions are often enough, but for those big reunion events you can add to future nostalgia by including personalized invitations and party favors that are affordable and reunion centric; a lasting keepsake for that even those who don't attend can receive.

Save the date invitations are a great way to spread the word and keep it stuck fresh in the minds of your reunion party guests.? Save the date invitations can be personalized to fit your event and depending on the size of the magnet you order, are quite a cost effective approach to combining a party favor, keepsake and invitation in one item.? Adding a great photo from the past reunion party helps to get the conversations flowing and the great memories flooding the gates for each receiver.?

One very simple and ultra-multi-purpose party favor to add to the list are reunion water bottle labels.? These water bottle labels can be adhered to either the reusable stainless canteens for a greener party favor or they can be placed on traditional plastic water bottles.? Regardless of what type of container you place your water bottle labels on, water is a necessary element to every summer party; reunions included.? This can be especially true if it is a hot summer day or if you are serving adult beverages at your reunion party as sending guests home with a fresh and personalized bottle of water is a very adult option.?

Reunion water bottle labels aren't just for water bottles.? We mentioned above about the reusable stainless bottles, but the size of the standard water bottle labels fits perfectly with just about any beverage container.? Cover soda cans and bottles, bottled vodka drinks and even your red solo cups can be upgraded with these simple personalized bottle labels.? While water bottle labels will fit most items, you may need to purchase wine bottle labels or champagne bottle labels for your reunion as the size of these bottle labels is much larger.? Great news is that these reunion wine bottle labels are 100% available and 100% affordable and a great addition to any reunion party.

Adding disposable cameras to the tables at the reunion is a great way to capture those moments that some other party go or none party goers may have missed.? Sure lots of people will have cameras on hand, but those little disposables still do a great job of being in hand at just the right moment.? If you don't want to spend money on the disposables (since affordable is the name of the game these days) then consider opening a free photo sharing website that guests can upload their own reunion party pics to for sharing.

?Reunions are all about the memories and creating new memories is just as important as reminiscing over the old.? Make great memories with awesome low cost keepsakes that keep the story about the reunion going year round.

New Canadian guidelines for physical activity and sedentary behavior

Ottawa, Canada (March 27, 2012) In response to an urgent call from public health, health care, child care, and fitness practitioners, the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP), with assistance from multiple partners, has developed two important sets of guidelines directed at improving the health and activity levels of infants and toddlers. The Canadian Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines for the Early Years (aged 0-4 years) and the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines for the Early Years (aged 0-4 years) are presented in the April 2012 issue of the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism (APNM).

"The development and publication of the first evidence-informed guidelines for the early years represents an important public health advancement in Canada," says Mark Tremblay, Director of Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research (HALO) at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute, Chair of the CSEP Guidelines Steering Committee and lead author of the published papers. "The guidelines are based on the best available evidence, input from researchers, clinicians and care-providers and harmonized with international initiatives."

"As leaders in physical activity, we aim to increase the Canadian public's awareness, adoption and implementation of the new Guidelines for the Early Years," says Earl Noble, President of CSEP. "We've worked with numerous partners, including the HALO Research Group, to develop these Guidelines. CSEP is proud to provide this scientific-based guidance to assist promoting physical activity and discouraging sedentary behaviours in young Canadians."

Caregivers are advised to minimize the time infants, toddlers and preschoolers spend during waking hours sitting or being restrained (e.g., stroller, high chair). For those under 2 years, screen time (e.g., TV, computer, electronic games) is to be avoided. For children 2-4 years, screen time should be limited to less than one hour per day, and less is better. The guidelines for physical activity recommend that infants should be active several times daily through interactive floorbased play. Toddlers and preschoolers should accumulate at least 180 minutes of physical activity throughout the day.

More activity, they advise, provides greater benefits.

"Research on Canadian school-aged children has shown that obesity is rampant, physical fitness is declining, and activity levels are at an all time low. The time for early intervention has arrived," says Terry Graham, Editor, APNM. "These new Guidelines are an essential foundation for the health and ongoing development of our children."

The Guidelines for the Early Years (aged 0-4 years) are presented in French and English in the journal APNM at http://www.nrcresearchpress.com/apnm

Graham-White Implements PM10 To Achieve Faster Budgeting And ...

Infor, a provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, has announced that Graham-White Manufacturing Company, global manufacturer of transportation valves and accessories, has implemented Infor10 Corporate Performance Management (PM10) to achieve improved budgeting and reporting through accurate, detailed planning and? faster company-wide budget submissions and approvals.? Implemented under budget and ahead of schedule, the scalable application also helps prepare Graham-White for future expansion or acquisitions, as the underlying technology helps businesses use existing systems to quickly consolidate and validate new financial information.

Since implementing Corporate Performance Management, Graham-White?s budgeting is easier and more detailed, as each business division enters its own budgeting data, reducing the time spent examining and approving budgets and allowing the finance department to focus on other tasks.

Straightforward access to financial reports and dashboards reduces the amount of time spent working manually within the system.? Where data consolidation for reporting previously required several hours, Graham-White can now complete the process in only a few minutes.

Instant web connectivity between application users encourages communication and collaboration across the organization, providing comprehensive information so employees can accomplish tasks quickly and make more informed, faster business decisions.

Corporate Performance Management also prepares Graham-White for future expansion and growth, as new companies and entities can be quickly added to the system.? Shortly after going live, Graham-White purchased a company and had the business implemented on the system in less than seven hours.

Graham-White worked with Information Systems Engineering, an Infor channel partner, and Infor consultants to finish implementation under budget and ahead of schedule.

?With our previous financial performance management application, users had to frequently submit requests to the finance department, and individual business units did not have the capability to enter their own budgeting information,? said Niki Justice, manager of Financial Analysis, Graham-White Manufacturing Company. ?With the extensive budgeting and reporting functionality in Infor10 Corporate Performance Management, each department enters its own budgeting information and users can complete tasks without submitting requests to the finance department, which has significantly accelerated processes and lightened the load for our finance decision-makers.?

?Infor10 Corporate Performance Management enables businesses to control costs through greater insight into operations and departmental spending,? said Rod Radojevic, director of product management, Performance Management, Infor. ?In today?s global economy, every dollar counts more than ever, and Corporate Performance Management provides the budgeting, reporting and analysis power to help ensure that more dollars are being spent to generate revenue for the company, and not on inefficient reporting and analysis.?
