Arrash "Ash" Durrani, sexy model, aspiring actor, and maker of groovy T-shirts, may be too-cool-for-school, but passengers on Tuesday's United Airlines Flight 473 from Chicago to Orange County, California, schooled him anyway when the apparently drunken California man began harassing others around him during the flight. Concerned passengers shouted at him to sit down, then ultimately tackled him to the floor of the aisle and sat atop him for hours until the plane landed safely at its destination, John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.
After boarding the aircraft for the 8:18 p.m. Tuesday flight, the 26-year-old founder of GROW Clothing Brand quickly bolted down three shots of Jack Daniels whisky and a beer, a passenger told the Orange County Register. By 9 p.m., Durrani began storming up and down the aisle erratically, walking into and out of the restroom, and demanding another drink from the flight attendants. He allegedly grabbed a woman by her hair and attempted to kiss her against her will. But it was when children on the flight began to seem afraid of Durrani's behavior that some passengers decided they had to act.
David Truong, a jeweler from Orange County, told the Register that he and three other men restrained the besotted model by forcing him to the floor, sitting on his chest, and using their belts to hold him down. The pilots of the flight apparently never left the flight deck during the fracas. When the plane landed, Durrani was arrested. He is expected to be charged with interference with a flight crew, a federal offense, according to an FBI agent quoted in the Register.
Arrash Durrani goes by Ash, according to his Facebook page. Also on his Facebook page, he says he was a VH1 host, that he is from Washington, D.C., lives now in Hermosa Beach, California, and graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2008. IMBD.com lists his sole acting credit as an as-yet-unreleased movie, Duel of Legends. He is the owner of GROW Clothing Brand, whose name stands for Ground Roots Over Wealth and which specializes in T-shirts.
